Prologue
“Joslynn, we seem to find something!”
Joslynn raised her head and stared at the man. She was an elegant young woman, and she couldn’t stop her grimace into the curiosity of the discovery. The man, on the other hand, was a gentle, nice old man who wore thick square glasses. Both of them were archaeologists.
“What is it, then?”
The man dusted them and handed them to her afterwards.
“Look, this certainly could be a primary source of how the people lived through the war.”
She carefully examined the pages as the man took a brush and tried to find something else on the ground. Recently, a report surfaced about old houses in the region, although the date was not specified. The two partners decided, even if there was nothing, they would take a look at what it was.
“Mr. Collins, I think this will be a great shock to the public if we try to analyze the written words. This is certainly an accurate primary source of wartime.”
“I agree with you, Joslynn. We shall go back to the institution and apply for radiocarbon dating.”
It revealed that Joslynn was an orphan left by the war. The man, Mr. Collins, was a professor, and he had been entrusted by Joslynn’s father to take care of her when Joslynn’s father left for war. He was sort of a father to Joslynn, since Joslynn was too young to recall any memories of her real father. Indeed, her father died when she was only a year old, and no one could blame her for not recognizing her own father.
What they said correctly was, this diary with no author would surely take them on a solemn adventure through the owner’s life.
